Nine new dengue cases reported in Dehradun

Dehradun District has observed a rise in dengue cases, with nine new positive cases reported on Saturday. The Dehradun chief medical officer Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma stated that among the nine new cases, four were identified at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, four at Himalayan Hospital and one at Kailash Hospital. This brings the cumulative number of dengue cases to 559, with 263 originating from Dehradun and 296 reported from other districts and States. 

Currently, there are 22 patients receiving treatment for dengue. Of these, 11 are hospitalised at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, eight at Himalayan Hospital, one at Graphic Era Hospital and two at Kailash Hospital. On Saturday alone, health officials collected 322 dengue samples, raising the total number of samples tested to 30,587, according to Sharma. 

Additionally, on Saturday, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and volunteers from the Health department conducted 6,277 household surveys to check for mosquito larvae. During these surveys, larvae were found in 53 homes. To date, the Health department has conducted a total of 1,924,695 household surveys, with 18,600 showing positive results. On the same day, ASHA workers and volunteers inspected 28,105 containers, discovering that 58 of them contained larvae. So far, they have examined a total of 13,264,524 containers, with 23,641 testing positive for larvae.
