The Rudraprayag superintendent of police (SP) Niharika Tomar, conducted an on-foot inspection of the Kedarnath Yatra route to review security and management arrangements for pilgrims on Sunday. The inspection was carried out from Kedarnath base camp to Gaurikund, covering important stops like Lincholi, Bhimbali and Junglechatti.

During the visit, she checked police posts and reviewed security, traffic control, crowd management and emergency response systems in place for the ongoing Char Dham Yatra.

The SP spoke with police personnel deployed along the route to understand the ground situation and gave instructions to improve arrangements wherever needed. She also interacted directly with pilgrims to know their problems, suggestions and overall experience of the Yatra. Many devotees shared feedback about facilities and movement along the route. In addition, she talked to horse and mule operators to understand issues related to route management and safety.

Tomar also directed officials to ensure that pilgrims face no difficulty during the journey. She stressed that safety, smooth movement, medical help and quick response in emergencies should be given top priority. Special focus was also laid on managing crowds and keeping a close watch on sensitive areas.

Officials said that the SP has been camping in Kedarnath for the past six days to closely monitor the situation. “The aim of the Uttarakhand Police is to provide a safe, smooth and comfortable journey to all pilgrims visiting Kedarnath from across the country and abroad,” the SP added.
