Dehradun police verify 2,071 in 2 days, over 400 challaned

Dehradun Police have completed verification of 2,071 people in two days under ‘Operation Crackdown’-Friday and Saturday. The drive aims to take action against suspicious individuals who may be living in the district while hiding their criminal background.
Police teams have been formed in all urban and rural police station areas to carry out regular checks. A total of 272 people were challaned under Section 83 of the Police Act and fined Rs 27.20 lakh for irregularities. In addition, 137 people were challaned under Section 81 of the Police Act for violating rules, and a fine of Rs 34,250 was collected. Police said that the campaign will continue and strict action will be taken against anyone found breaking laws.
