The Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan has ordered action on 150 complaints pertaining to an illegal factory, government land encroachment and alleged irregularities in disaster-related works – during the Samadhan Diwas held on Monday.
Taking a serious note of a complaint about alleged irregularities in disaster works carried out in Papadiyan village of Vikasnagar between 2023 and 2026, the DM directed the district development officer and district disaster management officer to jointly investigate the matter and submit a report within seven days.
In another case, the DM ordered the immediate sealing of a heavy welding factory operating in the residential area of Jhewaredi in Vikasnagar. Officials had earlier found that the site was not approved for industrial use. The factory also reportedly did not have the required NOCs from the Pollution Control Board and Fire department.
The DM also ordered an inquiry into a complaint of illegal encroachment and construction on government land belonging to the Municipal Corporation and Gram Samaj. Chauhan directed officials to inspect the site and take actions as per the rules.
On the complaint regarding the admission of a differently abled child to a school, the DM directed the district social welfare officer and district probation officer to investigate the matter and submit a report within seven days. The child’s father claimed that despite the pre- admission process being completed, the admission was not taken forward.
The DM also directed officials to act on a complaint from Mehuwala residents who alleged that land mafias were trying to encroach their ancestral land through violence. Chauhan said that officials ensure that complaints are not closed only as a formality. He stressed that the actual problem of the complainant must be resolved within the given time, with transparency and accountability.
