Sari Gaurav run held on International Women’s Day

The office of the district probation officer organised the ‘Sari Gaurav Marathon’ under the auspices of the Women’s Welfare department dedicated to the pride, honour and empowerment of women to mark International Women’s Day here on Sunday.
According to the officials, women dressed in Saris participated enthusiastically in the run, showcasing their energy and spirit. More than 70 women took part in the event.
The run began at Nari Niketan intersection on Doon University Road and concluded at distances of two kilometres and three kilometres along the same road. Women of various age groups participated, running to promote women’s strength, self-confidence and active engagement in society, they added.
Chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Geeta Khanna was the chief guest at the event. She emphasised that women are achieving new heights in every field while preserving their culture and traditions.Officers and staff from the office of the district probation officer, the Nari Niketan, among others voluntarily participated in the run. All winners were honoured by the chief guest, who presented them with medals. The main objective of the event was to convey the message that women can achieve success in every area of life while upholding their traditions and culture.
