Science & technology important for country’s progress- Governor

The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh inaugurated the national convention and exhibition on Akash Tattva at Uttaranchal University on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion he said that science and technology are important for the progress of any country. Singh said that many new researches are going in India in the fields of space sciences, atomic energy, information technology and biotechnology. He stressed the need to understand the ancient wisdom of the country on the subject of five basic elements (Panch Mahabhoot) in the light of modern scientific research.
The governor said that the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) played a key role in understanding and resolving the secrets of space. Comparing the scientists with the saints, he said that they are providing a new shape to the Indian elemental philosophy in the depths of space. The scientific secretary of the ISRO, AS Shantanu Wadekar informed about the objectives of the conference.
