SCPCR sends third summon to purported victim & her husband

The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) has sent the third summon to the woman who had accused Dwarahat MLA Mahesh Negi of sexual exploitation and her husband for alleged illegal DNA testing of her daughter who she has claimed was allegedly fathered by Negi. The commission had sent the first summon to the woman and her husband in September on the basis of a Nainital based lawyer’s complaint. The woman has claimed in various platforms that she had tested the DNA of her daughter and her husband which did not match as the husband is not the biological father of the child but according to the complainant, it is illegal to test DNA without the permission of authorities. Though the woman has failed to appear in the commission in response to the two earlier summons, she has asked the secretary of the commission this time to provide the copies of the documents like newspaper clippings or videos on the basis of which the complainant has filed complaint against her. Regarding this, the commission has directed the Nehru Colony police station in-charge to provide the required copies of documents to the woman and also summoned her on November 10 at 3 PM. If the official sources are to be believed, the woman is intentionally trying to defer the summon by the commission as she has also claimed in the past of not getting certain documents sent by the commission to her address. However, the officials stated that everything has been provided to the woman as per her requirement and if she will fail to appear before the commission with her husband in November without any relevant reason, the commission will have to take action against them.
