SCPCR to send another summon to woman for alleged DNA testing of her child

The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) will send another summon to the woman this week who had allegedly accused Dwarahat MLA Mahesh Negi of sexual exploitation along with her husband for the alleged DNA testing of her daughter without any permission of the authorities.

Taking cognisance of the complaint of a Nainital based lawyer, the chairperson of child commission has sent multiple summons to the concerned woman but she has not appeared once citing various reasons. According to the SCPCR chief Usha Negi, the woman was summoned for the fourth time to appear on November 28 last month in order to provide an opportunity to make her side clear on the matter but she did not appear again. She called and stated that she could not come due to certain issues and has asked the commission to provide her some time, said Negi. The officials informed that the commission ensures to hear both sides before making any decision, so the concerned woman will also be given another chance to appear in commission and will be sent another summon by this week.

It is pertinent to mention here that the SCPCR sent summons to the woman and her husband on the basis of a Nainital based lawyer’s complaint who stated in his complaint letter that the said woman has cited in several platforms that she had done DNA testing of her daughter and her husband but it did not match as the husband is not the biological father of the child. Asserting that DNA testing of a child without any authorization of the authorities is illegal, the complainant has asked the child commission to take action in this matter.
