Seven people were safely rescued by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) after they got stranded on a small river island near Santala Devi Mandir in the cantonment area on Sunday. The incident happened after consistent rainfall caused the river’s water level to rise suddenly, leaving the group surrounded by strong currents with no way to reach the riverbank.
After receiving information from the control room, an SDRF team from Sahastradhara, led by sub-inspector Rajbar Rana, reached the spot where it started the rescue operation in coordination with the local police.
Despite the swift current and difficult conditions, the SDRF personnel reached the stranded people using special rescue equipment. All seven people were rescued one by one and brought to a safe place without any injuries.
