Selja gives mantra of unity to Congress MLAs of Uttarakhand

The central leadership of Congress party is continuing its efforts to forge unity in the Uttarakhand unit of the party and prepare for the crucial Assembly by-election of Kedarnath and the elections of Urban Local Bodies (ULB). The in- charge of Uttarakhand Congress, Kumari Selja and in-charge ( administration) of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Gurdip Sappal met the Congress MLAs from the State in New Delhi on Monday.
The meeting was attended by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara, the leader of opposition (LoP) in the State Assembly Yashpal Arya and all the 20 MLAs of the Congress party. The Pratapnagar MLA Vikram Singh Negi told The Pioneer that discussions on the upcoming elections of the ULB and the Kedarnath Assembly by-elections were held in the meeting. It is learnt that the State in charge asked the party leaders and MLAs to shun differences and work for strengthening the party in the State. She also discussed the party’s strategy for the upcoming Kedarnath bypoll and the ULBs in the State.
The meeting of the central leaders in Delhi with the party MLAs comes after their recent meeting with the senior leaders of the party. In this meeting Selja took inputs about the political situation in the State and affairs of the party from the PCC president Karan Mahara, LoP in State Assembly Yashpal Arya, former chief minister Harish Rawat, the deputy leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Bhuwan Kapdi, former PCC presidents Pritam Singh, and Ganesh Godiyal, former speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal and former cabinet ministers Harak Singh Rawat, Navprabhat and Surendra Singh Negi. The candidates of the party in the recent Lok Sabha elections were also invited in the meeting.
