Seven new dengue cases reported in Dehradun

Even as rains continue to disrupt routine life, the incidence of dengue has continued in Dehradun. Seven new cases of dengue were reported in the district on Monday. The Dehradun Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma stated that six cases were identified at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital and one at Himalayan Hospital. This brings the total number of confirmed dengue cases in the district to 285, with 139 cases originating from Dehradun and 146 from other districts and States.

Currently, there are 21 active dengue patients receiving treatment. Among these patients, 15 are hospitalised at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, two are at Himalayan Hospital, two at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, one at GDMC Hospital and one at Graphic Era Hospital. On Monday, health officials collected 248 dengue samples, raising the total number of samples tested to 15,038.

Additionally, on Monday, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and volunteers from the Health department conducted 9,725 household surveys to check for mosquito larvae. During these surveys, larvae were found in 143 homes. To date, the Health department has completed a total of 13,59,744 household surveys, with 10,958 yielding positive results. On Monday, ASHA workers and volunteers inspected 65,900 containers and discovered that 170 of them contained larvae. Overall, they have examined a total of 90,88,953 containers, with 14,720 testing positive for larvae.
