Under the direction of the senior superintendent of police, Nainital, the anti human trafficking unit (AHTU) and Haldwani police busted jointly a sex racket operating under the guise of a spa center. Police arrested four people, including a woman, and rescued six young women.
According to the police, upon receiving tips, a joint team of the AHTU and local police raided a spa centre in a complex on Nainital Road and found objectionable activities taking place there.
During the raid, police seized objectionable items, two entry registers and some cash. Six young women were rescued from the scene and sent to a one stop centre for counselling. The arrested quartet have been identified as Neeraj Singh , Kartikeya Gupta , Poonam and Atul Thakur. Besides, the operator of the centre Rahul Jaiswal has been named as an absconder and police are looking out for him, informed the inspector- in-charge, Vijay Mehta.
A case has been registered at the Haldwani police station under various sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, he added. SSP Dr. Manjunath TC said that the campaign against prostitution and other illegal activities in the district will continue in the future as well.
