SGRR Medical College observing National Pharmacovigilance Week

The department of Pharmacology at Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences (SGRRIM&HS), Dehradun, celebrated National Pharmacovigilance Week 2025from September 17 to 23 aimed to spread awareness about the safe use of medicines, possible adverse effects, misconceptions and the importance of patient safety among both the general public and healthcare professionals.

On Saturday- the third day- a Walkathonwas organised, where MBBS students carried placards with slogans highlighting drug safetyandadverse drug reactions (ADR), reaching out to sensitise the community. The chairman, Mahant Devendra Das personally interacted with the students, motivating them to prioritise patient safety and promptly report any adverse drug reactions.

On this occasion, the head of the department of Pharmacology,Dr Shakti Bala Dutta shared several examples of adverse drug reactions such as allergic rashes or breathing difficulty due to antibiotics, stomach pain or ulcers caused by excessive use of painkillers dizziness from blood pressure medicines and hypoglycemia triggered by anti-diabetic drugs.
