Shoppers throng markets for last- minute deals ahead of Holi

Last-minute shoppers in Dehradun thronged major markets including Paltan Bazaar, Hanuman Chowk and Jhanda Bazaar here on Thursday to finalise their preparations for the Holi celebration. Residents were spotted purchasing Pichkaris, balloons, colours and various festive foods. Many shopkeepers expressed excitement over the increased sales of colours and other items during this busy shopping period.
One shopkeeper, Raju Verma said that he has set up a small stall outside his permanent shop, selling Holi colours, Pichkaris, and other items. He said that since 8 AM, residents have started visiting his stall to complete their last-minute shopping for the occasion. According to him, Holi themed tee shirts and eco-friendly colours have been particularly popular among customers.
Another shopkeeper, Harish, said that he has stocked all types of Holi items at his stall. Parents particularly demanded cartoon water guns for their children. Additionally, eco-friendly colour sprays are also in high demand this year.
Many other shopkeepers have also expressed similar excitement about the sales during the Holi festival.
“The busy schedule at my office has influenced me to do last-minute shopping for Holi. I have observed a variety of Pichkaris for children. This year, I bought a cartoon-themed Pichkari for my son. Additionally, I also purchased fried chips to make the Holi celebration more exciting,” said local resident Tarun Gupta.
Another local resident, Jai Dixit, said that he visited the market to complete his preparations for Holi. He bought eco-friendly colours along with Holi-themed tee shirts for his family. This time, he also purchased colour crackers to add a new touch to the celebration, he said.
