SIIDCUL companies directed to keep Kalyani river pollution-free

The chief development officer, Udham Singh Nagar district, Divesh Shashani directed the officials from companies operating under SIIDCUL to ensure the river Kalyani is pollution-free. The officials from industrial establishments were directed to ensure untreated water is not discharged into the river. He urged all companies to upgrade their treatment plants appropriately to treat polluted water. Sampling and testing of water from these companies would be conducted after one month, he said and warned that strict action would be taken against any company found to be discharging contaminated water into the river.

 He directed the RM, SIIDCUL and the Pollution Control Board officials to inspect the treatment plants installed in these companies to ensure they are functioning properly. He also directed the Pollution Control Board officials to compile a list of companies using hazardous chemicals and conduct regular inspections. He further directed the RM, SIIDCUL and Pollution Control Board officials to get the water of the river sampled before it enters SIIDCUL near Attriya temple and the city’s border with Uttar Pradesh and get it tested as to how much the river water is getting polluted in which area.

Among those present at the meeting were the additional district magistrate, Pankaj Upadhyay; sub-divisional magistrate Manish Bisht; regional officer, Pollution Control Board, SP Singh and   HR heads of industrial units in SIIDCUL.
