MCD to launch technology based monitoring system for Waste Management

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) is establishing a high-tech monitoring system for an impartial checking system of door-to-door waste collection and processing plants.

As part of this initiative, MCD is setting up an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) focused on monitoring and managing the city’s sanitation and waste processing mechanisms, the Dehradun municipal commissioner Namami Bansal said. She informed that the system will use real-time alert-based technology to track garbage collection vehicles.

Through this centralised setup, MCD will monitor vehicle movements, adherence to routes, punctuality, worker attendance, waste collection data and the functioning of processing plants. The system aims to bring greater transparency, accountability and efficiency to Dehradun’s waste management operations, she said.

Bansal also stated that the initiative will not only improve sanitation standards but also enable faster resolution of public complaints. This step is expected to support Dehradun’s progress towards becoming a clean, smart and sustainably managed city, she added.
