The Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat on Monday conducted a field inspection of two sites located in Rudrapur under the Special Intensive Review (SIR) drive. He took stock of the progress of the SIR-related works being carried out at Saraswati Vidya Mandir. Expressing satisfaction over the smooth SIR drive, he said that hearing of those to whom notices have been sent are being done at various booths.
The commissioner inspected the voter list by scanning it at the booth and then said that most of the errors relate to voters’ names. “The notices issued to them have dates. The voters can present themselves at their booths on the scheduled dates and present the required documents, such as their high school (10th) certificates, permanent residence certificates and other documents to have their name errors corrected,” he said.
Rawat further said that the voters whose mapping is being done on the basis of the year 2003 or whose names are not registered in the list could also complete the process of getting their names registered in the voter list by appearing with their necessary documents.
The commissioner appealed to the people not to pay attention to any misconceptions or rumours. “No genuine and eligible voter will be deprived of their voting rights under any circumstances and will retain their full right to vote,” he added.
Additionally, a booth-wise meeting schedule for AEROs has also been prepared. The commissioner directed that all AEROs be present at their respective booths on the scheduled dates and times to ensure prompt and effective resolution of voter issues.
Among the senior officers present during the inspection were the additional district magistrate, Kaustubh Mishra and SDM Manish Bisht.
