The chief electoral officer (CEO) BVRC Purushottam has said that the district election officers (DEO) should encourage and appreciate the booth level officers (BLO) and other field staff working diligently during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in the State. He gave the order while holding a video conferencing session with divisional commissioners of Garhwal and Kumaon and all the district magistrates of the State on Saturday.
He said that in the areas where movement is affected due to heavy rains, the BLOs should take the documents from the voters in cases of discrepancy. The CEO also directed the electoral registration officers (ERO) and assistant registration officer (AERO) to prepare a convenient strategy for hearing the unmapped voters.
In the review meeting, the CEO inquired in detail from the DEOs of all districts about the current status of Form VI, VII and VIII. On a terse note, Purushottam directed the officers should go to the field and communicate with the voters so that there is no confusion in their minds. He directed the DMs of Dehradun, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar to prepare a more comprehensive action plan for hearing the notices.
In the meeting the CEO also took feedback on the recent district visits of Kumaun commissioner Deepak Rawat and Garhwal Commissioner Anand Swarup. He also directed both commissioners to continue their field visits.
The additional chief electoral officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande, deputy chief electoral officer Kishan Singh Negi, assistant chief electoral officer Mastu Das also attended the meeting.
