SIR in Uttarakhand to commence from May 29

The process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttarakhand will commence from May 29. The Election Commission of India announced the third phase of SIR campaign for 16 states (including Uttarakhand) and three union territories on Thursday. 

The additional chief electoral officer, Uttarakhand Vijay Kumar Jogdande told mediapersons that the SIR process will be conducted in Uttarakhand on the basis of the eligibility date of July 1, 2026.

He claimed that all the preparations for SIR in the State have been completed under the leadership of chief electoral officer BVRC Purushottam. 

The ACEO informed that the work related to printing of enumeration forms and training of employees will be completed in Uttarakhand from 29 May to June 7, 2026. The booth level officers (BLO) will commence house to house visits in the State from June 8 to July 7. During this period, they will distribute the enumeration forms and collect the duly filed ones. 

The commission will undertake the work of rationalisation of the polling stations on July 7. Jogdande said that one polling station will have a maximum of 1,200 voters.

  The draft roll will be published in Uttarakhand on 14 July. He said that people and booth-level agents (BLA) can register claims and objections from July 14 to August 13 and all claims and objections will be resolved from July 10 to September 11. The final voter list of the State will be published on September 15 by the ECI. 

The ACEO appealed to the people to avail the facility of ‘Book a Call with BLO’ feature for voter convenience, allowing voters to book a call with their BLO with a single click. He said that the voters can book their call by visiting the website https://voters.eci.gov.in or downloading the ECI-NET mobile app. After booking the call, the BLO will contact the voter within two days.

He stated that all political parties have so far appointed 21,808 BLAs against the 11,733 polling booths in the State.

9.76 lakh voters remain untraced in pre- SIR activity in Uttarakhand

 The data of the election commission shows that about 9. 73 lakh voters remained unmapped during the extensive pre-special intensive revision (Pre SIR) campaign in Uttarakhand. The ACEO informed that the State at present has 79,76,000 voters. He said that about 70 lakh voters were mapped in the State during the pre- SIR activity in the State. Jogdande added that the voters will not have to provide any document to the enumerators during the SIR work in the State.
