The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) sealed six sites across Dehradun on Thursday for carrying out construction without approved building plans or required permission, officials said.  The action in Harbhajwala, Mehuwala Mafi, Chandrabani Road and Rajpur Road is part of the authority’s drive to check illegal construction and commercial activities in residential areas.

In Harbhajwala, the MDDA sealed six shops being constructed by Ashraf Ali without approval. In Mehuwala Mafi, near Shimla Bypass Road, two separate constructions by Shahid Rao and another construction by Faiyaz Rao were sealed.

The authority also sealed a construction by Lalit Kashyap near Pooja Vihar on Chandramani Road for being carried out without an approved building plan. On Rajpur Road, a construction by Amit Garg near Sai Temple was sealed over alleged violations.

The action was carried out under the directions of the MDDA vice chairman Banshidhar Tiwari. He said that construction must follow approved plans and land use rules. Buildings constructed without permission or used for commercial activities in residential areas in violation of regulations would face action.

Tiwari said that planned development was a priority and that the authority would continue monitoring violations. He also urged builders to obtain the required approvals before starting construction.
