SMIH offers new technology-driven treatment for brain diseases

Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Dehradun stated that it had successfully treated the complex condition of blood clot in the brain- Chronic Subdural Hematoma- using the latest technology known as Middle Meningeal Artery Embolization (MMAE). A team of doctors headed by the head of Neurosurgery department of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Dr Mahesh Ramola treated two such patients using the latest technology.   This procedure was safer and minimally invasive than traditional surgery, said Dr Ramola. The chairman of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Mahant Devendra Das congratulated the team of doctors on this success.

The facility of MMAE is routinely available in only a few selected medical centres in India where both endovascular and neurosurgical facilities are available together, the doctors who had treated the cases said, adding that their hospital has now joined the select few institutions in the country where this state-of-the-art medical facility is available.

Dr Ramola further said that this would enable patients of Uttarakhand and its neighbouring states to avail the benefits of state-of-the-art medical treatment which was till now mostly limited to big metro cities.
