Social Welfare Dept secretary inspects DDRC Dehradun

Social Welfare department secretary Sridhar Babu Addanki on Thursday inspected the District Disability and Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) at Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital, Dehradun and directed officials to ensure timely, quality and easy access to government schemes and rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities. Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital is part of the  District Hospital. 

During the inspection, the secretary reviewed the services and facilities being provided to persons with disabilities at the centre. He sought detailed information on registration, assessment, counselling, rehabilitation services and distribution of assistive devices. He also examined records and ongoing activities at the centre and issued necessary guidance to officials and staff.

Addanki said integrating persons with disabilities into the mainstream of society is among the government’s top priorities. “Effective implementation of departmental schemes is essential to increase access to services and facilities for eligible beneficiaries,” he stated.

The secretary laid special emphasis on making the centre systems more robust and disability-friendly. He also directed that all available resources and systems be properly utilised to ensure better services for persons with disabilities.
