Purola MLA Rajkumar all set to defect to BJP
After roping in the independent MLA from Dhanaulti, Pritam Singh Panwar, the ruling BJP is now all set to inflict damage on the Congress party by poaching its MLAs and leaders. It is learnt that the MLA from Purola in Uttarkashi district Rajkumar is all set to join the BJP. He has been camping in Delhi from last few days and was to join the saffron party in presence of central leaders on Saturday. However the joining was deferred at the last moment as the state unit of BJP wants to keep the possible dissidence the entry Rajkumar could trigger under check. It is worth mentioning here that Rajkumar was earlier in the BJP but shifted his allegiance to the Congress party in the last assembly election when he was denied the party ticket. According to reliable sources Rajkumar has blocked all attempts of communication by the Congress leaders including the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president. The Purola MLA is learnt to be very angry at the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Pritam Singh who happens to represent Chakrata which is adjacent to Purola.
In the political circles the information is making rounds that some more Congress leaders including two MLAs are joining the BJP. On Friday the Lansdowne MLA Dilip Rawat claimed that some prominent Congress leaders including three MLAs are in touch with BJP and they would join the party soon.
When contacted by The Pioneer the PCC president Ganesh Godiyal said that he has no information about Rajkumar. Godiyal however added that no other MLA or Congress leader would join BJP. On the question of whether some BJP leaders are joining the Congress party, Godiyal said that he would disclose things at an appropriate time. “All I can say is that this game has been started by the BJP but it will be finished by us,’’ he said.
