U’khand govt asks employees to submit details of assets by Dec 15

Uttarakhand government has directed all its officers and employees to submit details of their movable and immovable assets before December 15. Apart from this, the employees will have to submit details of the assets owned by their family members. An order in this regard was issued by secretary Personnel Shailesh Bagauli on Friday.
In the order, Bagauli has asked all principal secretaries, secretaries, the head of departments, divisional commissioners, district magistrates and their subordinate officers and the managing directors of all the corporations of the State government to ensure that the information about assets of the officers and employees are submitted to the department of Personnel within the stipulated timeline. The secretary further stated that failure to comply with the order will result in disciplinary action against the involved employees.
The government order follows the direction from Uttarakhand High Court, Nainital in this regard. Hearing public interest litigation (PIL) against some officers of Uttarakhand Jal Nigam, bench of HC comprising of chief justice G Narender and justice Subhash Updhayaya ordered the chief secretary of Uttarakhand that responsibility should be fixed in the cases where the employees hide the assets owned by them and their family members. The court cited the Uttarakhand Civil Service Conduct Rules-2022 and said that the family includes the wife, son, step son, unmarried daughter, unmarried step daughter and dependent husband/ wife.
