Speaker adopts 10 TB patients under TB eradication campaign

The Assembly speaker Ritu  Khanduri Bhushan has adopted 10 tuberculosis (TB) patients under the TB eradication campaign, part of the Ni-kshay Mitra Yojana. With the support of the Hans Foundation, she also distributed sewing machines to these TB patients. She said that Uttarakhand is making significant progress toward the target set by both the Central and State Governments to become TB-free.  

As part of the TB Mukt Abhiyan initiative, sewing machines were provided to 10 TB patients in Government Doon Medical College to support their livelihoods. The principal of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Dr Geeta Jain appreciated the Hans Foundation’s campaign, highlighting that it not only provides treatment to TB patients but also offers them means of livelihood, thus delivering both health and financial support.

The chief medical officer Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma adopted two TB patients, while Dr CS Rawat adopted one. Dr Sharma emphasised that supporting patients under the TB campaign is not only a departmental duty but also a humanitarian responsibility. He expressed optimism that with community participation, Dehradun district will soon achieve its goal of being completely TB-free.
