Special cleaning campaign continues at Kedarnath & Yatra routes

Having started focusing more on sanitation at Kedarnath and the Char Dham Yatra routes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed on the need for keeping pilgrimage centres clean, a special cleaning campaign continued for the tenth day on Wednesday at Kedarnath and Yatra routes.
To ensure better cleaning for protecting the environment at Kedarnath and on the route to it, the Rudraprayag district magistrate Mayur Dixit had directed the Sulabh organisation, district Panchayat and Nagar Panchayat to undertake a special cleaning campaign to ensure cleanliness at Kedarnath and its route. This special campaign continued for the tenth day on Wednesday. According to the officials, a special campaign was conducted in Kedarnath and along the river. Plastic and other garbage was collected with about two quintals of garbage being collected. Necessary action is being undertaken for proper disposal of this waste.
The district Panchayat workers collected used plastic waster bottles, polythene and other garbage from Bairangna, Maikhanda, Fata helipad, main bazaar in Fata and other spots on the route to Kedarnath on Wednesday. He said that about three quintals of garbage had been collected in the campaign.
