Preparations for the proposed Sports University in Uttarakhand have gained further pace. After inspecting the land in Gaulapar, Haldwani on Monday where this ambitious project is coming up, the Sports minister Rekha Arya said that it would create history for the State’s sporting future.
She emphasised that the site is more than just a piece of land. “It represents years of determination, struggle and dedication,” she said and added that the Sports University would provide a new direction to the State’s talented sports-inclined youth and give them a platform to gain recognition at both national and international levels. “This will lay a strong foundation for a bright future for generations to come,” she asserted.
She said emotionally that her dreams for the youth and athletes as the Sports minister are now becoming a reality. She extended her gratitude to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for his efforts in bringing this project to fruition.
“The academic block and administrative building of the university are ready and we plan to start conducting classes from the next session,” Arya added.
During her visit, the minister also inspected the training camp for the Sub-Junior National Championship and met the players to assess their preparations. She expressed confidence that both the boys’ and girls’ teams would represent the State well in the national competition starting on April 1st.
This aside, Arya inaugurated a three-day training camp for Census 2027 master trainers at the auditorium of Kathgodam Circuit House on Monday. “This census will lay the groundwork for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s lofty vision of Developed India by 2047. All development plans are based on census data, making this a highly responsible task,” she commented.
