The Sports minister Rekha Arya informed that the sportsperson will now get a four per cent horizontal reservation in the Provincial Civil Service (PCS) examination organised by the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC). Arya informed that the Personnel department has recently sent the updated advertisement to the commission. The reservation will be eligible for the sportsperson who has received laurels in the national, international or State-level competition. She said that it is a matter of great happiness for all the players in the state that they have been receiving a four per cent reservation in government jobs for a long time. They have been advocating for the implementation of a sports quota. This quota will now include players who have won medals at national and international levels. She said that previously, talented players from the state used to work in other states, causing migration issues. However, now these talented players will be able to serve in government positions within their own State, she added.
The Sports minister further expressed gratitude to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for implementing the four per cent reservation and providing expedited job opportunities for sports persons in the State.
