To ensure a safe Kanwad Yatra slated to start on July 30, an important meeting of the special police officers (SPOs) was held in Roorkee Municipal Corporation premises on Tuesday under the chairmanship of SP (Rural) Shekhar Chandra Suyal. All police circle officers and station in-charges from the rural areas, except for the Laksar Circle, were present.
In the meeting, Suyal briefed the SPOs on the preparations for the Kanwad Yatra and the police action plan. He instructed them to maintain law and order during the Yatra, ensure smooth traffic flow, assist devotees in safely crossing the Kanwad tracks and coordinate with the police higher ups in case of any emergency.
SP (Rural) further stated that the role of SPO is crucial to facilitate a well-organised Yatra. He appealed to the people to fully cooperate with the police, as in previous years, so that the visiting devotees experience a safe and smooth religious journey. “We are going all-out to ensure a memorable Yatra for all pilgrims. We need cooperation from people and coordination in the police department,” he added.
