Budget session:  Congress plans to corner govt on law & order, corruption & crime against women

 The Congress party will try to corner the State government on the issues of deteriorating law and order situation, increasing crimes against women, unemployment and corruption during the upcoming budget session of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha. The session is scheduled to commence on March 9 at Bharadisain, Gairsain.

 Chakrata MLA and the chairperson of the campaign committee of Uttarakhand Congress, Pritam Singh told The Pioneer that the government doesn’t want to face the questions of the opposition members so it has deliberately kept the duration of the Budget session short. He said that the government is defying traditions and the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha Work Execution Rules Regulation by deciding to table the budget on the first day of the budget session of Vidhan Sabha. The Congress leader said that the decision on tabling the budget should be taken by the business advisory committee of the House.

 On the preparations of the Congress party for the upcoming session, the Congress leader said that the misdeeds of the government has ensured a situation where there are plenty of issues which can be raised in the Vidhan Sabha. He said that the party will take a final decision on the issues raised by it in the meeting of its parliamentary board scheduled on March 8. He said that the series of recent murders in the provisional State capital Dehradun have exposed the pathetic condition of law and order situation in the State. He said that the cases of crimes against women are increasing but no efforts are being made by the government to control them.

Singh claimed that there is an open nexus between police, mafia and government in the State. He said that the mafia is ruling the roost in the State and corruption is at an all time high and the Congress party will raise the issue in the Vidhan Sabha.
