The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh asked the officials concerned to prepare alternate route plans to minimise the increased traffic load due to ongoing construction works at 40 locations in the city.
He stated this after conducting a field inspection of the ongoing construction work at places with heavy traffic on various roads within the city area on Tuesday. He took stock of the ongoing construction work on various routes and sought information from the officers present at the sites about the time of completion of the construction work. He also directed them to not spread construction materials on roads that cause more traffic-related issues to the commuters like traffic hindrances and road accidents. He also directed the officials concerned to ensure that the commuters use alternative routes and the route diversion plan to minimise traffic load on the 40 spots.
It is pertinent to mention here that several departments and agencies concerned have started the restoration work for the installation of CCTVs, traffic lights and other similar equipment which were removed for the widening of 40 bottlenecks across the city under the Dehradun Smart City project. This has severely affected the traffic load on these routes since Sunday. The works are expected to be completed by this weekend. Considering this, the SSP has asked the officials concerned to deploy traffic police personnel in these spots for better traffic management besides taking all possible measures.
