The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobal, on Tuesday directed the Premnagar police station in-charge to also conduct a detailed investigation into a woman who filed the complaint against four persons for allegedly demanding Rs 30 lakh as extortion money.  The direction was given after information surfaced that the woman may also be linked to an illegal property grabbing business in the Premnagar area.

According to the Premnagar police circle officer (CO) Swapnil Muyal, a woman Seema Rajput registered an FIR on Monday. She informed that her husband has been in Suddhowala jail since December 2024 in connection with a murder case. She alleged that another accused in the same case, identified as Arjun, demanded Rs 30 lakh from her husband during a jail meeting on May 8. The accused also allegedly threatened to kill her if the money was not paid.

The woman said that she had already complained to the jail superintendent and Dehradun SSP about the threats. She further alleged that on May 20, around 4:30 AM, she heard a loud sound outside her house. The next morning, she found a threat letter in the parking area. On checking the CCTV footage from a neighbour’s camera, two youths were seen coming near the house. One of them allegedly threw the threat letter inside and later fired outside the house before leaving.

Muyal said that police are investigating the matter and questioning the people whose names have been mentioned in the complaint. An FIR was registered against four accused identified as Arjun, Deepika, Vikas and Balala. Police said that three of the accused had also met accused Arjun in jail. He further said that the accused involved in the case will be arrested very soon.
