PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Rudrapur

The senior superintendent of police, Udham Singh Nagar, Ajay Ganpati suspended nine policemen on the charge of dereliction of duty following an on-site inspection of various highway checkpoints in Pantnagar on the intervening night of August 4 and 5.  Importantly, he conducted the inspection in his private vehicle.  Besides issuing the suspension order, he asked four other personnel to explain their absence.

As per police sources, several police officers were found absent from their designated duty points, while some reported incorrect locations to the control room and senior officers.

Notably, upon receiving information about a shooting incident in Pantnagar, the control room instructed all station in-charges to reach Jaspur border and conduct intensive checking and blockades on the highway. Meanwhile, SSP himself arrived in his private vehicle at around 12 o’clock at night to inspect the checking points located at Mahakosh, Sarkari Tiraha, Doraha and Parmanandpur.

Ganpati stated clearly that any form of negligence, indiscipline, or disobedience shown to orders from superiors during police duty would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
