The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested a man Kapil Dev with 207 grammes of smack from the Raiwala area of Dehradun in the wee hours of Sunday. The accused was smuggling the smack worth Rs 20 lakh with his father-in-law to get money to plan a lavish wedding anniversary party, said the senior superintendent of police of STF, Ayush Agrawal. He said that STF received information about the duo smuggling drugs in Dehradun for quite some time.
Considering this, the unit of Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of STF along with Raiwala police did a sudden search of accused Kapil late on Saturday night and recovered 207 grammes of smack from his possession worth about Rs 20 lakh. He said that it was revealed during the investigation that the father-in-law of the arrested accused Kapil, Anand Kumar, a resident of Bijnor, used to bring smack from a man named Tausif Khan in Bareilly to Kapil who used to smuggle it in Dehradun.
He said that Kapil has gone to jail in multiple cases in the Dehradun district that includes a drug smuggling case in Raipur police station too. He said that the STF has registered a case against both accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Raiwala police station. The father-in-law absconded soon after he got to know about Kapil’s arrest who will be nabbed soon too, added SSP. He said that STF will continue to take action against drug related issues in the State and anyone who observes such illegal activities happening around them can contact STF at 01352656202 and 9412029536 to give information about such issues.
