STF nabs parents for using minor to smuggle heroin in Gadarpur

The Special Task Force (STF) Anti-Narcotics Task Force bust heroin smuggling being done by a family using its minor member to supply the contraband in the Gadarpur area of Udham Singh Nagar district. The action was taken jointly by the STF Kumaon Unit and the Gadarpur police.
During the operation, the team recovered 112.3 grammes of illegal heroin from the minor. According to the police, the seized heroin is worth about Rs 33 lakh. The minor told the police that his parents had given him the drugs and told him to deliver them to a person near a culvert. The parents had also given him their scooter to carry out the crime.
The accused parents have been identified as Shakir Ali, also known as Nakta, and his wife Shain, residents of Gadarpur. The police stated that Ali is a known drug trafficker with several cases registered against him. Both parents used their child for drug trafficking, which is a serious crime under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, officials said.
A case has been registered against the parents, while the minor has been taken into protective custody. STF officials said the action was taken under the drug-free Devbhoomi campaign launched by the Uttarakhand government.
