The Special Task Force (STF)’s anti-narcotics Kumaon unit arrested a man identified as Sehnawaz (36) from Azadnagar area of Kichha in Udham Singh Nagar district and recovered 1 kg 33 grams of heroin from his possession on Saturday. The international market value of the seized heroin is estimated to be around Rs three crore. The STF anti-narcotics unit had been tracking him for nearly two years, sources said.

Sehnawaz alias Mamu is considered a major heroin supplier in Kumaon region. The heroin supplied by him was in high demand among drug peddlers, as it was believed to be of high purity, STF sleuths said.

During questioning, Sehnawaz is said to have told police that he had brought the heroin from a person from Bareilly called Bhaiya. As per his statement, Bhaiya used to send a boy to deliver heroin.  He is understood to have further told police that he would identify the delivery boy, though not Bhaiya.

STF sleuths said that he had been held when he was going to sell the drugs to another person called Harjinder. The STF’s anti-narcotics unit is now searching for Bhaiya and his delivery agent.
