Stunt culture rising in Doon, university video sparks debate

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE Dehradun

A video from a private university on Mussoorie Road in Dehradun has gone viral on social media. In the video, many students are seen performing bike and car stunts inside the campus, while a crowd watches. Recently, similar stunts were also done on the terrace of a mall in Dehradun, and another private university had hosted a similar show as well.

Many viewers raised questions on Instagram about how such activities were allowed inside an educational institution. They said that students should be focusing on their studies, not performing risky stunts which raise concerns about the safety of students and the lack of discipline inside the campus.

However, the university administration has clarified that the event was organised after taking permission. He also said that proper safety equipment was used and the activity took place in the parking area, not on the main campus. He claimed that it was not a stunt performance but a planned activity.

On the other hand, Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said that the activity took place inside the institution and not on any public road. The police did not receive any complaint about the event. However, he added that the institution should be more careful and ensure such incidents do not happen again. Singh said that many groups perform stunts only to make reels for social media. The police are monitoring such videos and taking strict action. In similar cases, the police have issued challans and seized bikes and cars. He also said the social media team has been alerted to track such videos and act swiftly.
