In the upcoming assembly elections the Congress party would give tickets to the candidates who fulfil the set parameters and the party has already conducted two surveys in the state. These surveys would play a major role in deciding the party tickets in all the 70 assembly constituencies.
Giving this information, the in- charge of Uttarakhand Congress Devendra Yadav told media persons here on Friday that the party would soon constitute a screening committee for the assembly elections. He said that the party is engaged in the process of assessment of its leaders in all the assembly seats from the last one and half years. He added that the party would release its first list of candidates till the last week of December. Yadav claimed that many leaders of other parties are eager to join the party but Congress would adopt a selective approach in dealing with them. He said that the party has got strength from joining of heavy weight Dalit leader Yashpal Arya and his son. Yadav however evaded the question of the party’s stand on cabinet Minister Harak Singh Rawat.
On the question of the party’s stand on the candidates who have lost two elections at a stretch, Yadav said that such candidates too would be considered if their connect with the people is good and they are working hard on ground. The Congress in charge said that the Congress party is poised to win the upcoming assembly elections in Uttarakhand.
