Take action in Dehradun & U’kashi, be prepared in four other districts

Heavy rain was reported in some parts of the State while moderate and light rain was witnessed in many parts of the State on Monday. Similar weather conditions are expected on Tuesday with the State Meteorological Centre issuing a red warning (take action) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/very intense to extremely intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun and Uttarkashi districts today.

An orange warning (be prepared to take action) has been issued regarding the possibility of havy to very heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/very intense to extremely intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Tehri and Bageshwar districts.

The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (be aware) regarding the possibility of heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in remaining mountainous districts and Haridwar district. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in Udham Singh Nagar district today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in all districts of the State today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a generally cloudy sky. Few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur while heavy to very heavy rain is also likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 28 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Meanwhile, various parts of the State witnessed heavy and moderate rain on Monday with 75.5 millimetres in Chorgalia, 69 millimetres in Kashipur, 68 millimetres in Bazpur, 64.5 millimetres in Ranikhet, 53.5 millimetres in Bhimtal, 49.5 millimetres in Mukteshwar, 51.8 millimetres in Pantnagar and 11.2 millimetres in Dehradun.
