The tender floated by the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) to replace Ramky Enviro Engineers Limited (REEL) is scheduled to be open on Tuesday. REEL that currently manages the operation of the solid waste management and recycling plant in Sheeshambada besides managing door to door garbage collection service in 69 wards has notified the corporation to be relieved of all responsibilities by the end of this month.
The REEL has claimed that the corporation has failed to fulfil the promises as per the contract while the MCD officials have alleged that the company did not comply with the conditions of the agreement like proper disposal of garbage in the plant which has affected sanitation conditions in the city. The corporation floated e-tender last month to appoint a new company, preferably a local one, but as per the officials, it can also consider selecting two companies to manage the wards as well as the operation of Sheeshambada waste management plant. The municipal commissioner Manuj Goyal said that the tender will be opened on Tuesday only after which, the corporation would be able to take the decision to hand over the duties currently being managed by REEL.
