Thak Thak Gang active in Dehradun, one member arrested

Dehradun police have arrested a member of the Thak Thak gang, which targets people on city roads to steal valuables. The gang reportedly approaches vehicles at curves, red lights or slow-moving areas, distracts drivers and takes items from inside the vehicles.
The officials informed that a man Ritendra Kumar of THDC Banjarawala, Patelnagar registered a complaint that an unknown person distracted him and snatched his mobile phone. The police started the investigation and a team inspected the area and reviewed nearby CCTV footage. Local informants also assisted the investigation.
The officials informed that the police apprehended Sartaj (44) on Sunday near Palm City in Dehradun after a tip from an informant. The police also recovered an iPhone 16 Pro from his possession which was allegedly stolen from a driver in Patelnagar.
The officials informed that during questioning, Sartaj revealed that the gang operates in pairs, with one member engaging the driver while the other takes items from the vehicle. Police continue to investigate and work to identify and arrest other members of the gang. The officials advise residents to stay alert, avoid lowering windows unnecessarily and report any suspicious activity.
