The Premnagar police have registered a case against three people for allegedly showing a living man as dead and preparing fake documents to grab his land. The case was registered on the orders of a court. The accused include the son and wife of a family associated with a reputed college.

The complainant, Shyamlal, a resident of Shimlas Grant in Doiwala, alleged that the accused had prepared a fake will and other documents to take control of his ancestral land, adding that the land belonged to his father, Tarachand.

As per the complaint, the accused prepared a will dated August 3, 1995. They also allegedly prepared a fake cremation ground receipt showing that Tarachand died on June 14, 2002. However, the complainant said Tarachand actually died on November 20, 2016.

The complainant also submitted a death certificate issued by the Simlas Grant gram panchayat to support his claim. He said that the fake documents were later used to get entries made in the revenue records in favour of the accused.

The Premnagar police registered a case under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 504, 506 and 120B of the IPC. The police said the matter is under investigation and further action will be taken according to law.
