Thunderstorm & intense showers alert issued for today

Some parts of the State may experience inclement weather today. The State meteorological centre has issued an alert regarding the possibility of thunderstorm accompanied with hail/lightning and intense showers likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of the State. Further, squalls (50-60 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in the districts today. Apart from this, the meteorological centre has forecast light to moderate rainfall/thunderstorm at many places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and at few places in the mountains of the remaining districts on Tuesday. Very light to light rainfall/thunderstorm is likely to occur at isolated places in the plains of the State whereas surface winds are likely to be strong and gusty during the daytime. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience partly to generally cloudy skies with the likelihood of rain/thunderstorm with strong gusty wind. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 36 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Monday were 35.2 degrees Celsius and 23.3 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 35.3 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 24.7 degrees Celsius and 13.4 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 26.8 degrees Celsius and 14.8 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
