Thunderstorms & rain likely in mountain districts, plains to remain hot

The plains in the State witnessed another day of high temperatures while light to moderate rain was reported in various mountainous places on Sunday. The State meteorological centre has forecast that light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Almora districts while very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Nainital ,Champawat, Tehri and Pauri districts on Monday. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense showers/ gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Almora districts today. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Nainital, Champawat, Tehri and Pauri districts.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 40 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Sunday were 40.2 degrees Celsius and 26.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 40.2 degrees Celsius and 25.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 25 degrees Celsius and 16.6 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 29.1 degrees Celsius and 18.1 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light to moderate rain was reported in some places with 26 millimetres in Chaukhutiya, 22.5 millimetres in Agastyamuni, 10 millimetres in Kanalichhina, 9.5 millimetres in Ukhimath, six millimetres in Jakholi, 5.5 millimetres in Gauchar and five millimetres in Garud.
