The Nirogi Bharat Foundation (NBF) is planning to develop a website and application for the smooth functioning of a ‘Time Bank’ in Dehradun. The founder of NBF Rohit Mamgain said, “The Time Bank has received positive feedback from senior citizens in the city, and approximately 1,000 volunteers have already joined the Time Bank since its inception to spen time with senior citizens. Given the favourable response from the senior citizens and volunteers, we are now planning to expand the Time Bank onto the digital platform. To achieve this, our organisation is in the process of establishing a website and application specifically designed for the Time Bank. The application will provide a convenient tool for volunteers to connect with senior citizens in their vicinity”
He further added that due to the positive feedback received from senior citizens, they are considering the possibility of offering twice the amount of quality time to volunteers who help elderly individuals. He stated that numerous senior citizens in Doon have affirmed that Time Bank has contributed to their ability to overcome feelings of isolation and depression. Additionally, the organisation guarantees that every volunteer at Time Bank undergoes thorough verification before being assigned to assist the elderly, he added.
It will be recalled that the implementation of the Time Bank was started from May this year. This system enables the account holders to deposit their quality time by volunteering to assist elderly people. Time Bank is an initiative which strives to create a positive impact on the overall well-being of the elderly people in the city.
