In latest Uttarakhand news, a tourist from Delhi died after he slipped into a 500-metre-deep gorge at George Everest in Mussoorie. It is learnt from police that the deceased came to visit Mussoorie with three relatives. He was identified as Umesh Kumar (29) from Kalyanpuri, Delhi.
The city police station in-charge Shankar Singh Bisht said that on receiving information of the accident, SDRF, police and fire department teams rushed to the spot and started rescue operation jointly in the darkness of the night. He further said that they had finally succeeded in reaching the youth with the help of a rope. “But by the time we reached him he had died,” he said and added that the body was kept in the sub-district hospital’s mortuary.
