A traffic diversion plan has been issued for people in Dehradun in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on April 14. The plan aims to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and proper crowd management during the event, which is expected to see a large number of people and vehicles coming from different areas. According to the plan, special routes have been made for buses being driven to the event in Garhi cantonment from different regions. Buses from Kumaon, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Doiwala, Dharampur and ISBT will travel via Rispana Bridge, Araghar Chowk, Ghantaghar, Bindal Bridge and Doon School to reach Akash Ganga Tiraha. Buses coming from Chakrata, Vikasnagar, Sahaspur and Premnagar will use the route through Premnagar Chowk, Ballupur Chowk and Bindal Bridge. Similarly, buses from Mussoorie and Rajpur will be diverted through Mussoorie Diversion, Dilaram and Hathibadkala, while those coming from Raipur and Sahastradhara will pass through Survey Chowk and Dilaram. Buses from Roorkee, Bhagwanpur and Asharodi will follow the route via Jogiwala, Rispana and Survey Chowk.
The administration has also prepared a separate traffic plan during the human chain programme. Vehicles from St Jude Chowk towards Haridwar and Rishikesh will be diverted through Shimla Bypass and ISBT service lane or through Patelnagar and Kargi Chowk. Several other diversions have been planned for vehicles moving between Rispana, Kargi Chowk, GMS Road, Premnagar and ISBT to avoid congestion.
For the general public, multiple alternative routes have been suggested. Vehicles traveling from Dehradun to Delhi, Saharanpur and Roorkee will be diverted via Shimla Bypass, Nayagaon Road and Dharamawala Chowk, while another option is through Haridwar. Vehicles coming into Dehradun from these areas will also follow alternative routes through Behat, Premnagar and Bindal areas. Heavy vehicles have also been directed to follow these routes strictly.
Several key points in the city, including St Jude Chowk, Kargi Chowk, Lalpul, Balliwala Underpass, Cantt Chowk and ISBT, have been marked as main diversion points. Police personnel will be deployed at these locations to guide commuters.
