Traffic diversions, parking plan announced for August 15

The Dehradun police have issued a traffic plan for the 80th Independence Day celebrations on August 15. Parade Ground and the surrounding area will be declared a zero-traffic zone during the parade, police said. 

Vehicles, pushcarts and street vendors will not be allowed to enter the area. Only a limited number of VIP and pass holder vehicles will be allowed through designated points.

People coming to attend the programme have been asked to park their vehicles at designated parking areas. Vehicles of parade participants, police personnel, home guards and media workers will be parked at Rangers Ground, Mangla Devi Inter College and Doon Club near Survey Chowk.

Vehicles coming from Dharampur, Darshan Lal Chowk and Doon Chowk will be parked at Rangers Ground. Vehicles coming from Survey Chowk will be parked at Mangla Devi Inter College Ground. People coming from Rajpur Road will be able to park at designated areas near St Joseph Subhash Road and Lord Venkatesh Wedding Point.

The police will set up barriers at several points around Parade Ground. The outer points will include Survey Chowk, Manoj Clinic, Buddha Chowk, Darshan Lal Chowk, Orient Chowk and Pacific Tiraha. Inner barriers will be placed at Employment Tiraha, Kanak Chowk, Doonga House, Lansdowne Chowk and Convent Tiraha.

The police have also announced diversions for Vikrams and city buses. Vikrams on different routes will be turned back or diverted from points such as Sahastradhara Crossing, Tehsil Chowk, Railway Gate and Globe Chowk.

City buses will also follow alternative routes. Buses travelling from ISBT towards Rajpur Road will pass through Darshan Lal Chowk and Clock Tower. Buses coming from Rispana will be diverted through Tehsil Chowk, Doon Chowk, MKP Chowk and Araghar.
