Tree plantation held in Navgrah Vatika for Green Uttarakhand

To mark Uttarakhand’s folk festival Harela, a tree plantation drive was organised in Navgrah Vatika at Swami Shivanand Kanya Gurukulam Vidyalaya on Kichha Road on Wednesday with the objective of protecting environment and helping Uttarakhand become a Green Uttarakhand. Notably, the drive was taken up on the initiative of a veteran
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh functionary, Dalchand.  
The chief guest of the programme, the vice- chairman of District Development Authority, Jai Kishan stressed on protecting the environment by planting plants of different species in Navgrah Vatika.

On this occasion, many medicinal, fruit-bearing and shady trees, including Kuchila, Amla, Gular, Jamun, Khair, Sheesham, Bamboo, Peepal, Nagkesar, Banyan, Dhaak, Pakhar, Reetha, Bel, Maulshree and Mahua, were planted.


At the end of the programme, all present pledged to play an active role in environmental protection, climate balance and the creation of a green Uttarakhand.

The members of the school fraternity, including students and teachers were present.
