Uttarakhand set to become world class wedding destination: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that efforts are being made to establish Uttarakhand as a leading wedding destination in the country and the world. He said that the ‘Wed in Uttarakhand campaign’ will give new impetus to local economy and employment in the State.
He was addressing the ‘Grace Hindustan 2.0 Uttarakhand’ National Wedding Professionals conference in Kimadi on the Mussoorie-Dehradun road on Wednesday.
The CM said that the spiritual, cultural and natural heritage of Uttarakhand makes the sacred occasion of marriage even more divine. He said that historical and religious heritage, such as the Triyuginarayan temple, the wedding site of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, gives Uttarakhand a unique identity as a destination wedding destination.
Dhami said that the State government is working to develop Triyuginarayan, Omkareshwar (Ukhimath), Ramnagar, Tehri, Mussoorie and other suitable locations into world-class destination wedding destinations. He added that destination weddings are not limited to hotels and resorts; they also directly create employment and income opportunities for local artisans, folk artists, homestay operators, taxi drivers and numerous small businesses. Therefore, the State government is promoting wedding tourism as an effective means of strengthening the local economy and self-employment.
He said that Uttarakhand is a wonderful confluence of nature, culture, spirituality and wellness, offering a holistic tourism experience.
The CM added the government is working on important spiritual projects such as the Haridwar-Rishikesh corridor, Vivekananda corridor, Golju corridor, Yamuna corridor and Sharda corridor, along with the development and beautification of the temple areas of Kedarkhand and Manaskhand. He averred that Uttarakhand is today among the most trusted states in the country due to law and order, good governance and investment-friendly policies
